Chandigarh, December 25

The General Secretary of All India Congress Committee, former Union Minister and Sirsa Member of Parliament Kumari Selja has demanded that the Government of India expedite the four-laning of the Sirsa–Rania–Tibbi–Hanumangarh road. She said that this road is extremely important not only for the border areas of Haryana and Rajasthan, but also from the perspectives of national security, trade, and connectivity. Earlier, Kumari Selja had also demanded that the Sirsa–Ellenabad–Rawatsar route be declared a four-lane National Highway and included under the Bharatmala Project.

In a statement released to the media, MP Kumari Selja said that once the Sirsa-Rania-Tibbi-Hanumangarh road is four-laned, the distance between the Lalgadh military cantonment near Sri Ganganagar and the Hisar military cantonment will become the shortest, strengthening rapid troop movement and strategic preparedness of the armed forces. This route will prove extremely useful for the country from a defense perspective.

Selja said the development of this road will also minimize the distance between New Delhi and Sri Ganganagar. Compared to the three existing major routes from Sirsa to Sri Ganganagar, this route will be the shortest in distance, require less travel time, and result in lower fuel consumption. Selja said the construction of a four-lane road will directly benefit farmers, traders, and industries in the region. Transportation of agricultural produce and industrial goods will become faster, providing new momentum to the regional economy. Additionally, road accidents will reduce and travelers will benefit from safer and smoother commuting facilities. The MP urged the Government of India to approve the Sirsa–Rania–Tibbi–Hanumangarh road as a four-lane National Highway on a priority basis and commence construction work at the earliest, keeping public interest, national security and regional development in mind.
