Despite the challenges posed by the monsoon, the Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand is heading towards a new record. The state government is prioritizing the safety of devotees, regulating and halting the pilgrimage when necessary, but the faith of pilgrims remains unwavering.
Within 114 days, the number of visitors has crossed 4.7 million. This figure is more than 468,000 higher compared to last year.
Under the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the pilgrimage is being conducted with utmost caution and monitoring. Considering the active monsoon, all necessary arrangements have been ensured for a safe and convenient journey. The Chief Minister himself is monitoring disaster management through the State Disaster Control Room. Facilities for lodging, food, and other essentials have been arranged at all four shrines and halting points. Security personnel have been deployed at landslide-prone areas to assist pilgrims.
Thanks to better disaster management and arrangements by the state government, the pilgrimage is moving towards a new milestone. This year, the Char Dham Yatra began on April 19 with the opening of the portals of Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines. By Monday, August 10, in 114 days, a total of 4,702,703 devotees had visited the Char Dham shrines, compared to 4,234,147 during the same period in 2025 — an increase of 468,556.
