New Delhi, April 27

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri at Kartavya Bhavan in New Delhi and held detailed discussions on various important issues in view of Uttarakhand’s geographical conditions and disaster sensitivity.

For the uninterrupted, safe, and smooth conduct of the Char Dham Yatra, the Chief Minister requested that the supply of commercial LPG cylinders be maintained at 100 per cent. He informed that during the pilgrimage, which runs from April to November, lakhs of devotees from across India and abroad visit the state, leading to a significant rise in demand for commercial LPG. During this period, the state requires approximately 9,67,949 commercial LPG cylinders.

Highlighting that Uttarakhand faces natural disasters every year during the monsoon months of June to September, Dhami emphasized that LPG plays a crucial role in disaster management and relief operations due to the mountainous terrain and difficult conditions. In this context, he requested an additional allocation of 5 per cent (around 48,397 cylinders) to ensure effective and timely relief and rescue efforts.

Dhami further noted that Uttarakhand’s economy is primarily tourism-based, with religious, pilgrimage, and adventure tourism contributing significantly. The Char Dham Yatra, he said, is central to the state’s faith, cultural identity, and economic activity. The Union Minister assured positive consideration of all proposals presented by the Chief Minister and reiterated the central government’s commitment to safeguarding the interests of the state.
