Chandigarh, May 25
Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) president Rao Narendra Singh launched a sharp attack on the central government over the continuous rise in petrol and diesel prices and increasing inflation. He said that instead of providing relief to the public, the BJP government is consistently adding to the financial burden on common people.
Singh said that during elections, the BJP makes grand promises and claims of development, but once the elections are over, the burden of inflation is imposed on the people. He alleged that petrol and diesel prices are increased in installments so that the economic burden on the common man rises gradually and people’s pockets are “silently and steadily” emptied.
Singh said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been continuously warning the central government for several months about the looming economic crisis and rising inflation, but the government failed to take these warnings seriously. Rao Narendra Singh stated that while the Prime Minister remained busy with electoral politics, fuel prices were increased by nearly ₹8 after the elections, directly impacting the lives of ordinary citizens.
Singh further said that the increase in petrol and diesel prices does not remain limited to fuel alone, but also affects transportation, food items, cooking gas, and all essential commodities, making everything more expensive. Today, the middle class, farmers, laborers, employees, and youth are all suffering due to rising inflation.
Singh said that considering the serious economic situation in the country, the BJP government should convene an all-party meeting or call a special session of Parliament to hold serious discussions on issues such as inflation, unemployment, and the economic crisis. He added that the Congress party will continue to raise these issues strongly as the voice of the people and fight for the interests of the common citizens.
