Patiala, April 22

Taking another meaningful step towards promoting water conservation, Patiala Foundation successfully conducted its fourth workshop under the initiative “Save Water: Think, Act, Preserve” at G.S.S.S. Model Town, Patiala. The workshop was organized in collaboration with the Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST), with support from the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India. The workshop was conducted under Project PRITHVI, a flagship initiative of Patiala Foundation aimed at fostering environmental awareness, sustainable practices, and responsible living, particularly among the youth.

The session began with students filing the pre-activity assessment designed to evaluate students’ existing understanding of water usage and conservation. This was followed by thoughtfully curated sessions conceptualized by Ravee Singh Ahluwalia, Founder and CEO of Patiala Foundation, with the objective of nurturing awareness and encouraging responsible environmental behaviour among students. He firmly believes that the future of water conservation depends on the choices we make today. By adopting simple, mindful habits, we can collectively safeguard this vital resource for generations to come and concluded with the post assessment forms being filled by the attendees.

The workshop featured an informative session on clean and safe water, along with the growing concern of water scarcity, delivered by Rudraksh Sisodia, from Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law. He emphasized the critical importance of protecting water resources to ensure public health, ecological balance, and long-term sustainability. Addressing key issues such as overconsumption, pollution, and climate change, he encouraged students to adopt responsible water usage practices and contribute actively towards conservation efforts.

Further strengthening the session, Nishu Gupta delivered an engaging and interactive segment focusing on practical ways individuals can think, act, and preserve water in their daily lives. Her session incorporated activity-based learning, relatable examples, and actionable strategies, inspiring students to adopt simple yet impactful habits for mindful water usage. The students filled postcards with a message for their parents to be read and followed that they learnt from the sessions. The students also created messages on post it notes to be posted in the Water Tree, which would remind them every single day, how to Save Water.

Through interactive discussions and activities, students explored important themes such as water wastage, sustainable consumption, and conservation techniques including reuse, mindful utilization, and rainwater harvesting. The workshop strongly emphasized translating awareness into meaningful action. The session was supported by Ms. Navdeep, an intern from DSW, Punjabi University, who also addressed the topic of water-borne diseases while ensuring smooth coordination and enthusiastic participation from students.

Aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation), the initiative highlighted the importance of collective responsibility in addressing environmental challenges. The organizing team extends its heartfelt gratitude to the staff of G.S.S.S. Model Town, Patiala, especially Bhagwant Singh (Incharge), Sonia Chawla (Eco-Club Coordinator) and Damandeep Kaur (Science Mistress), for their valuable support and cooperation in successfully conducting the workshop.

This initiative, conducted under the aegis of PSCST and supported by the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, reflects a shared commitment to building environmentally conscious citizens dedicated to sustainable living. The session concluded with a strong call to adopt small actions to save water, and by encouraging students to become ambassadors of change. Patiala Foundation is committed towards reinforcing the message that small, consistent efforts can lead to significant impact.
