Speaking in the Lok Sabha today on the matters of urgent public importance, Chandigarh MP and former Union Minister Manish Tewari underscored why Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula and New Chandigarh need a Mass Rapid Transport System (Metro) connecting these four cities. Tewari reminded the house that back in 2019, he had written to the Minister of Road Transport and Highways to introduce this  mass rapid connectivity between Chandigarh and its surrounding cities such as New Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali to catalyse the economic potential of the area, which hasn’t happened till date despite UMTA meetings and RITES reports holding the Project to be financially viable.
