Shimla, October 30
BJP Himachal Pradesh President Dr. Rajeev Bindal congratulated lakhs of small and marginal farmers across the state on the release of the 24th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. Dr. Bindal said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government continues to work towards the welfare, financial security and economic empowerment of farmers. He stated that approximately 11 lakh farmers in Himachal Pradesh have received ₹2,000 each directly into their bank accounts, amounting to a total transfer of ₹220 crore under the 24th instalment of PM-KISAN.
Dr. Bindal described the financial assistance as an important contribution towards strengthening the agricultural economy and supporting small and marginal farmers across the state. He said that under PM-KISAN, eligible farmer families receive ₹6,000 annually in three equal instalments of ₹2,000, transferred directly into their bank accounts.
Highlighting the cumulative benefits of the scheme, Dr. Bindal said that 24 instalments amount to ₹48,000 per farmer for beneficiaries who have received every instalment. He further stated that farmers in Himachal Pradesh have received an estimated ₹5,230 crore in financial assistance through these 24 instalments, reflecting the scale of the Central Government’s support for the state’s farming community.
Dr. Bindal said that agriculture and horticulture form the backbone of Himachal Pradesh’s rural economy. Farmers in the hill state face unique challenges due to difficult geographical conditions, small landholdings and rising agricultural input costs. He noted that the financial assistance provided through PM-KISAN helps farmers meet expenses related to seeds, fertilisers and other agricultural requirements.
Dr. Bindal said that the continued provision of ₹6,000 annually over the past eight years demonstrates Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to the welfare and economic security of farmers. He added that the Direct Benefit Transfer mechanism has strengthened the system of delivering financial assistance directly to eligible beneficiaries.
Taking a dig at the Congress, Dr. Bindal said, “On one hand, Congress leaders are using objectionable language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while on the other hand, PM Modi continues to serve poor farmers and work towards their economic empowerment.” He said that instead of indulging in political criticism, Congress leaders should focus on constructive measures for farmers’ welfare and rural development.
Dr. Bindal emphasised that the Central Government’s initiatives are aimed at supporting farmers, strengthening their financial position and improving agricultural sustainability. He extended his congratulations to all beneficiary farmers of Himachal Pradesh and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the continued financial assistance provided under PM-KISAN. He reiterated that the BJP remains committed to raising issues concerning farmers and horticulturists and ensuring that the benefits of Central Government welfare schemes reach eligible beneficiaries across the state.
