Administrator Graces Closing Ceremony of ‘Sashakt Bal Mahotsav-3.0’

The Governor of Punjab and Administrator of UT Chandigarh, Gulab Chand Kataria, graced the closing ceremony of ‘Sashakt Bal Mahotsav-3.0’ as the Chief Guest today. The month-long Mahotsav was organised by the Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) to mark its 12th Foundation Day.

The Mahotsav brought together children from government and private schools, as well as child care institutions, providing them a vibrant platform to showcase their talent. The Administrator felicitated participants of various competitions, including painting, essay writing, declamation, shloka recitation and theatre, aimed at nurturing creativity and self-confidence among children.

Addressing the gathering, the Administrator said that true empowerment of children lies in building confidence, awareness and the courage to stand against abuse. He congratulated the students and teachers for their dedication in making the Mahotsav a success.

Emphasising the need to further strengthen systems to prevent crimes against children, he highlighted the crucial role of teachers and mentors in shaping values and character, alongside police and other stakeholders. On the occasion, he released CCPCR’s Training Module under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO) Act to enhance awareness and effective implementation of child protection laws. He also appreciated the Commission’s sustained efforts in safeguarding child rights.
