Chandigarh, April 21

Senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Dr Daljit Singh Cheema today condemned the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for taking an additional loan of Rs 1300 crore to fill the coffers of its Delhi leadership. In a statement here, the SAD leader said it was shocking that Punjab’s debt would reach Rs 4.5 lakh crore by the end of the current financial year and that the debt to GSDP ratio would go up to 46 per cent.

Asserting that the situation had taken such a turn when no money was being spent on development, Dr Cheema said “it is clear that Punjab’s treasury is being looted to spread AAP wings in other States as well as sustain chartered flights as well as other extravaganzas of its Delhi leadership”.

Calling for an independent probe into the misutilisation and misappropriation of State funds, the SAD leader said the AAP leadership had bankrupted the State and that it was in the throes of a financial emergency. He also highlighted how thousands of crores were being spent on advertisements and publicity gimmicks even as employees were being denied their dearness allowance dues and even the Old Pension Scheme for which the AAP government had also issued a notification.
