Ludhiana industry and the Punjab Government have joined hands to upgrade Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in the district, with a high level working group constituted to drive reforms. A delegation of the Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings (CICU) and the Institute Management Committee (IMC) met Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Technical Education & Industrial Training, Punjab, Vikas Pratap, along with Director Mohnish Kumar, to discuss strengthening and overall improvement of ITIs in Ludhiana.

During the meeting, the Additional Chief Secretary applauded the performance of Government ITI Ludhiana and appreciated the significant contribution and active role of Ludhiana industry in skill development, training enhancement, placements, and apprenticeship promotion. He urged the industry to upgrade Government ITIs across Punjab to the same level as Samrala, Jagraon, Hussainpura, and Gujjarwal, so that students can receive industry oriented training and better employment opportunities.

The delegation highlighted that CICU has been successfully organizing Mega Job Fairs every year for the last decade to connect industry with skilled manpower and generate employment opportunities for youth. At the last CICU Mega Job Fair, around 3,150 job aspirants were offered job letters by participating industries. CICU further informed that another Mega Job Fair is planned for the first week of July.

The Additional Chief Secretary appreciated this initiative and assured full support from the Department for strengthening industry‑academia collaboration, skill development, placements, and employment generation for Punjab youth.

The working group will focus on assessment of training standards, Training of Trainers (ToT), enhancement of employability, improvement in placement outcomes, CSR‑based infrastructure investment, and effective implementation of NAPS 2.0. CICU General Secretary Honey Sethi congratulated all the newly appointed committee members and expressed confidence that the committee would play a vital role in transforming Government ITIs into world class skill development centres aligned with industry requirements.
