On the eve of the Panthic gathering to be held on May 31 at Baba Bakala Sahib, a large Panthic gathering was held in was held at Gurdwara Shaheedan Feruman in Ludhiana, attended by representatives of various Sikh organizations. Addressing the gathering, Jathedar, Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj issued a stern warning issued to the Punjab government and declared the sacrilege law introduced by the Punjab government as interference in Sikh Panth.
Later, speaking to journalists, Jathedar Gargaj said that through the anti-sacrilege law, the Punjab government has interfered in Sikh Panth, which will not be “tolerated”. He stated that a grand Panthic conference is being organized on May 31 at Baba Bakala Sahib against the Sacrilege Law. The Jathedar emphasized that the government has ‘no authority to interfere in the religious matters of Sikhs’. Referring to past incidents of sacrilege, he urged the government to take strict action against the culprits. Reiterating his warning, the Jathedar said that the Panth will never tolerate government interference.
