Chandigarh, June 3
Archana Gupta officially took charge as the new Haryana BJP president on Wednesday at the party’s state headquarters in Panchkula. The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and several senior leaders.
Gupta, appointed on May 28, is a radiologist by profession and only the second woman to lead the party’s Haryana unit in over four decades. The first was veteran leader Kamla Verma, who held the post from 1980 to 1983.
Gupta succeeds Mohan Lal Badoli and brings with her extensive organizational experience, having earlier served as Panipat District Mahila Morcha president and most recently, as the state BJP general secretary.
The event saw the presence of BJP national vice president Saudan Singh, Haryana affairs in-charge Dr. Satish Poonia, Union Minister of State Rao Inderjit Singh, State Ministers Shruti Choudhry and Arti Rao, outgoing chief Mohan Lal Badoli and senior leaders O.P. Dhankar and Subhash Barala, among others.
