AICC general secretary and in-charge Punjab Bhupesh Baghel today said that he has seen overwhelming response among the people across 12 districts he visited so far, to bring Congress back to power in the state. He said, they see only hope in the Congress.

Addressing the ‘Harr booth, Congress Mazboot’ programme here today, Baghel said that he could feel from his long experience in politics that people of Punjab see Congress as the only option to replace the Aam Aadmi Party government that has failed people’s promises and expectations.

“Bhagwant Mann has drowned Punjab into debt and drugs”, he said, while pointing out how the state economy and the law and order have collapsed. He said, nobody felt safe in Punjab as the gangsters were killing people without any fear of law. He said, Punjab has never seen such lawlessness ever.

Emphasising and underlining the need for strengthening the party, he said, under the ‘Sangathan Sirjan Programme’ of the party at the AICC level, the party was being strengthened at the grassroots and booth level. He congratulated the Punjab Congress leadership for appointing Booth Level Agents in all the booths across the state.

Telling the grassroots level workers that they were the flagbearers of the Congress, he said, party’s true strength lies in their being strong. He noted that no big leader can win an election without the support of the grassroots level.

Baghel also took a dig at the AAP and the BJP, saying, both of them tried to disturb and distract the Congress programmes. He pointed out how the AAP had erected hoardings asking him to “go back”. These are signs of the panic of our rivals, he remarked.

Speaking on the occasion, the PCC president expressed satisfaction over the massive response the party programmes have been receiving. He disclosed that these programmes were never planned to be of this level, but people joined on their own. He said, this was the reason some people, both outside and inside the party started feeling jittery and they tried to disrupt these programmes. However, he added, the very fact that someone was trying to disrupt these programmes proved their success as the opponents were unnerved.

Calling people to uproot and throw out the Mann government, he said, he had proved to be the worst ever Chief Minister Punjab had. He referred to the deteriorating law and order situation in the state, saying gangster culture was at its extreme, lawlessness was at its extreme and drugs were at the extreme worst.

Warring also condemned the Mann government for misusing the police force to brutalise peaceful protestors like the teachers, the MGNREGA workers, safai karamcharis, teachers, farmers and government employees.
