Ludhiana, September 17
Former Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee General Secretary and ex‑Chairman of the Punjab Large Industrial Development Board, Pawan Dewan, along with his colleagues, today met residents of J Block, BRS Nagar.
The meeting, organised by Kulbir Neeta, was aimed at understanding the problems faced by people in the Ludhiana West Assembly constituency and exploring possible solutions.
Residents told Dewan that frequent and prolonged power cuts were their biggest concern. They said outages lasting several hours not only render inverters useless but also disrupt daily life and routine work. Complaints included the absence of timely updates on the PSPCL app and the unavailability of the PSPCL customer care number during emergencies.
Rejecting government claims of massive road construction, residents pointed out that local roads remain riddled with potholes. They warned that these pose risks of injury to pedestrians and cause repeated damage to vehicles. The situation has worsened after roads were dug up recently for laying canal water pipelines, adding to the inconvenience.
Speaking at the meeting, Dewan said the government’s development exists only in advertisements, while the ground reality is “extremely poor.” He stressed that untimely power cuts have made life unbearable for residents and that the deteriorating condition of roads reflects sheer neglect.
Dewan urged the government to stop focusing on publicity and instead address the genuine problems of the people, adding that citizens cannot be misled every time and accountability must be enforced.
