Commissioner of Garhwal Division, Anand Swaroop, stated that following an improvement in weather conditions, the Char Dham Yatra has been resumed. All concerned district magistrates have been issued necessary instructions in this regard. He explained that, according to the forecast issued by the Meteorological Center, the pilgrimage was suspended from the afternoon of September 26 until September 27, 2026, in view of the safety of pilgrims and devotees. With the weather now improving, the yatra is being conducted again.
Swaroop emphasized that district magistrates may take decisions regarding the operation of the pilgrimage based on local circumstances. In case of blocked routes, heavy rainfall, or adverse weather, district magistrates are authorized to temporarily suspend the yatra at their level. He reiterated that the safety of pilgrims during the Char Dham Yatra is the highest priority. The administration is continuously monitoring weather conditions and the status of travel routes. Pilgrims have also been urged to check weather updates and strictly follow the guidelines issued by the local administration while undertaking the journey.
