Chandigarh, December 25
On the occasion of the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister of India and an inspirational figure of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Punjab BJP Working State President Ashwani Sharma paid floral tributes at the party’s state office in Chandigarh. He said that Atal set such an example of principles and ideals in politics that remains as relevant today as it was in his time. On this occasion, BJP Punjab Organization General Secretary Manthri Srinivas Sullu, State Vice President Subhash Sharma, State Media Head Vineet Joshi, State Co-Treasurer Sukhwinder Singh Goldy, State Head of the Legal Cell N.K. Verma, Mohali BJP District President Sanjeev and other colleagues were present.
Sharma said that Atal Bihari Vajpayee, at a time when politics of manipulation, horse-trading, and compromises for power were becoming common, chose to reject power obtained by a single vote rather than compromise on his principles. He said that Atal is an ideal not only for the BJP but for every citizen of the country.
Sharma said that in the early days of the BJP, when the party won only two seats and an atmosphere of disappointment prevailed, Atal still inspired and encouraged party workers. He recalled that during his historic speech in Mumbai, Atal had said, “Darkness will fade, the sun will rise, the lotus will bloom.” Today, the BJP has become the world’s largest political party and is governing the country for the third consecutive term under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Sharma said that Modi, by carrying forward Atal’s ideals, is doing historic work in the fields of the national economy, national security, and welfare of the poor, due to which India’s prestige has increased across the world. He said that for every worker of BJP Punjab, Atal’s message holds special significance—“Darkness will fade, the sun will rise, and the lotus will bloom in Punjab as well.” To continue working with this spirit and to stay away from despair would be the true floral tribute to Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
