AAP Government ‘Falling Like a House of Cards’: Bajwa

Chandigarh, April 16

Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa on Wednesday said that the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab is “falling like a house of cards,” and the recent secretive meeting of party leaders is a clear reflection of growing instability within its ranks.

Bajwa said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann deliberately chose to convene a closed-door meeting at the PAP Complex in Jalandhar to ensure complete secrecy and prevent any information from leaking into the public domain. He added that holding a political meeting inside a police complex also sends a subtle but strong message of intimidation to party leaders who have been raising questions about the government’s functioning.

“Such a choice of venue is not coincidental. It is a calculated attempt to both hide internal cracks and create pressure on dissenting voices within the party to fall in line,” Bajwa said.

Referring to recent reports, he noted that several AAP leaders have been expressing unease over decision-making processes, lack of consultation, and their marginalisation within the party structure. Instead of addressing these concerns through open dialogue, the leadership appears more focused on controlling the narrative through secrecy.

Bajwa further remarked that this approach exposes the fragile state of AAP’s internal structure. “When a party begins to rely on closed-door meetings and indirect pressure tactics to manage its own members, it signals weakness and fear rather than strength and confidence,” he said.

Taking a swipe at AAP’s functioning, Bajwa said that the ‘Saam, Daam, Dand, Bhed’ approach associated with Manish Sisodia is now clearly visible in Punjab.

Bajwa asserted that the people of Punjab are watching closely and will give a decisive response in 2027. “No amount of secrecy or pressure tactics can save a government that is rapidly turning into a falling house of cards. The people of Punjab will throw this government out of power,” Bajwa said.
