Bathinda, January 5
Senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader and Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal today said chief minister Bhagwant Mann had failed as both the chief minister and home minister and had no right to continue in office. Talking to newsmen here, the Bathinda MP said Bhagwant Mann had presided over the complete collapse of the law and order situation in the State. “Gangsters are having a free run and are indulging in extortions and killings at will. Every day there are sensational incidents like the recent daylight murder of a village Sarpanch in Amritsar during a wedding celebration as well as the murder of a NRI woman in Kapurthala and a Panchayat member in Moga”.
Asserting that this was not all, Harsimrat said the chief minister had sublet the State to Arvind Kejriwal who along with his gang was looting the State and its resources. “Properties are being sold to generate funds for Aam Aadmi Party election campaigns across the State. Even the decision to expand the municipal limits of Ludhiana to include another 30 villages in its limits is being done to snatch village common lands and hand them over to AAP cronies and businessmen”.
Asserting that Bathinda had also witnessed the daylight murder of a businessman – Mela Ram earlier, Harsimrat said “No concrete effort has been taken by the AAP government to instill faith in the government. People are being killed every day but no action is being taken against gangsters who are indulging in extortions and killings freely”. She also highlighted how such incidents had started immediately after the formation of the AAP government with the killing of renowned singer Sidhu Moosewala as well as Kabaddi players, rocket launcher attack on the Punjab intelligence office and attacks on police stations.
When questioned about the recent false case registered against independent journalists and an RTI activist, Harsimrat said “Never in the history of Punjab have journalists been targeted in this manner”. She said the very fact that the government was trying to muzzle the freedom of the press proved that it understood that the ground was slipping from its feet and it would face a resounding defeat in 2027”
