Barnala, July 28
A massive rally was organized in Barnala to welcome BJP’s Punjab president Kewal Singh Dhillon to his home district. Thousands of party leaders and workers attended the event. Dhillon first congratulated newly appointed district president Narinder Garg Neeta, expressing hope that he would unite workers and work tirelessly to ensure BJP wins all three assembly seats in Barnala district in the upcoming elections.
Speaking emotionally about his bond with Barnala, Dhillon said, “Barnala is my own city, its people are my family. They elected me MLA twice. The responsibility given to me by the BJP high command is actually a crown placed on the heads of Barnala’s people. We will honor this crown by forming the BJP government in Punjab in 2027.”
Dhillon highlighted his past contributions: upgrading Barnala from a small tehsil to a district, building the DC complex, overbridges, underbridges, sewage plants, and road networks. He noted that even today, the Modi government continues to send funds for Barnala’s roads. Targeting AAP, he said, “The broom-wielders are doing little work, instead laying foundation stones on our projects to grab hollow applause.”
Dhillon questioned AAP’s claims of new colleges, asking where the previously announced 16 medical colleges are. He pointed out that the nursing college at Thikriwala was announced four years ago but remains incomplete, while the foundation stone at Mastuana Sahib has deteriorated and the land was reclaimed by the Gurdwara committee.
Dhillon accused the government of stalling the multi-specialty hospital project at Handiaya initiated by BJP, promising it would be built first once BJP forms government. He added that Barnala’s government hospital trauma center is being constructed with crores of rupees from the central government.
Expressing concern over Punjab’s current state, Dhillon said AAP has looted the state in the name of “change.” He cited gangsterism, robberies, debt, and grenade attacks on BJP offices as proof of law and order collapse. He condemned lathi charges on sanitation workers, electricity employees, DC office staff, PRTC workers, and health employees, saying women are being injured despite the government’s claims of respect. Strikes have left cities piled with garbage and hospitals unable to conduct even X-rays. “Punjab has been turned into Dharna-land, while Congress is busy fighting for its own chair,” he remarked.
Listing central government achievements, Dhillon said PM Modi’s government has given Punjab ₹16 lakh crore in funds, including for airports, railways (with Vande Bharat halts at Barnala), MSP for farmers, and heavy subsidies on urea fertilizer.
Finally, recalling Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s dream of “Sarkar-e-Khalsa,” Dhillon urged leaders and workers to start preparing now for the 2027 elections, asserting, “It is certain BJP will form the government in Punjab.” Various religious, social, business, and community organizations honored him on the occasion.
