Chandigarh, May 11
The Department of Culture, Chandigarh Administration, celebrated ‘Somnath Swabhiman Parv’ as part of the nationwide commemorative programmes initiated by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, marking the 75th anniversary of the inauguration of the rebuilt Somnath Temple.
A State-level programme was organized at Tagore Theatre, where more than 300 participants witnessed the live telecast from the sacred temple. During the live broadcast, Narendra Modi addressed the gathering and described the occasion as a milestone in Bharat’s civilisational journey. He stated that the Somnath Amrut Mahotsav reflected devotion and spiritual energy across the country. Present on the occasion were Mandip Singh Brar, IAS, Secretary, Culture, along with other officials of the Chandigarh Administration.
As part of the celebrations in Chandigarh, a Kalash Yatra was also taken out from Pracheen Shri Kheda Shiv Mandir to Shri Sanatan Dharam Mandir. A large number of devotees participated enthusiastically in the procession. Heritage buildings and temples across the city were illuminated to mark the occasion. The programme highlighted India’s rich cultural heritage and promoted the spirit of faith, devotion, and national pride.
