Chandigarh, June 23
Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, as the Chairman of the Cabinet Sub-Committee constituted to address employee grievances, held comprehensive meetings on Tuesday with the representatives of four employee unions to deliberate upon their issues. Reviewing the detailed memorandums submitted by various employee unions during high-level meetings at his office, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema stated, “All legitimate demands raised by employees will be addressed with immediate and empathetic action.”
Cheema issued strict directions to the concerned departmental officials and emphasised, “administrative processing of cases already under consideration should be expedited to provide timely relief to state employees.” Cheema reassured the delegations, “The Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann deeply respects the invaluable contributions of its employees.” He directed administrative secretaries and departmental heads to avoid any unnecessary procedural delays in dealing with legitimate demands and stated, “All proposals currently under review must be streamlined and brought before the Cabinet Sub-Committee within a clear, time-bound framework.”
The Finance Minister stressed that the objective is to maintain a harmonious, productive and transparent relationship between the state government and its employees. The meetings saw active participation from the leadership of the Covid-19 Medical and Para Medical Volunteer Union, the Jal Supply and Sanitation Social Employees Union, the Sarv (Samagra) Shiksha Abhiyan Mid Day Meal Daftri Karmachari Union, and the Associate Pre-Primary Adhyapak Union.
