The Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab has completely failed to eradicate drugs, and the incident of “Chitta Hi Chitta” being written on walls in Doomwali village of Bathinda district exposes the reality behind the claims of the AAP government’s “Yudh Nashian Virudh” (War Against Drugs) campaign. This was stated by Punjab BJP state president Kewal Singh Dhillon.

Dhillon said that amid allegations of open sale of ‘Chitta’ in Doomwali village, the fact that people have written “Chitta Hi Chitta” on the walls of their own homes to highlight the drug problem is deeply worrying. These conditions raise serious questions about the government’s claims of a drug-free Punjab.

Dhillon said that the anguish of mothers watching their young sons fall prey to drugs reflects the seriousness of Punjab’s current situation. He said that justice for Paraminder Singh Jhota, who raised his voice against drugs, is still incomplete, and that amid this, the sale of drugs in Bathinda district coming to light through writings on walls shows the failure and insensitivity of the AAP government. He said that before coming to power, the Aam Aadmi Party had guaranteed to end drugs within three months, but even after four and a half years, the drug problem has not been eliminated. A wide gap is visible between the government’s performance and the ground reality.

The BJP state president said that Punjab cannot become drug-free merely by naming campaigns and making claims through advertisements. The people of Punjab are now disappointed with the Aam Aadmi Party government’s claims and are demanding accountability and concrete action to pull the state out of the quagmire of drugs.
