Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Minister Dr Baljit Kaur today categorically assured that the due reservation quota for Scheduled Castes will be ensured in the ongoing direct recruitment of 1,013 lecturers in Punjab. She said that the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, is firmly committed to strengthening social justice, safeguarding constitutional rights and providing equal opportunities to every section of society, with the vision of creating an inclusive and progressive ‘Rangla Punjab’.While chairing a meeting with representatives of SC/BC Teachers’ Unions at Punjab Bhawan, Dr Baljit Kaur held detailed discussions regarding reservation in lecturer recruitment and other issues raised by the unions. She assured the representatives that every genuine demand would be considered with due seriousness and resolved appropriately in accordance with the law and government policy.
During the meeting, the representatives of SC/BC Teachers’ Unions also highlighted that the reservation roster was not being maintained properly in promotions as well, alleging violations of the prescribed reservation policy at various levels. They urged the government to take necessary corrective measures to ensure proper implementation of reservation provisions in promotions.
The Cabinet Minister said that the Punjab Government is fully committed to protecting the rights and interests of deprived and marginalised sections of society. She stated that the government is ensuring that recruitment processes remain transparent, fair and aligned with constitutional provisions so that no eligible section is deprived of its legitimate rights.
Dr Baljit Kaur said that social justice is not merely a constitutional responsibility but the foundation of an equitable and progressive society. She added that the Punjab Government is continuously taking result-oriented decisions to ensure that every section receives its rightful entitlements and participates equally in the mainstream of development.
Appreciating the constructive suggestions put forward by the union representatives, the Cabinet Minister said that the government considers dialogue and meaningful consultations with stakeholders as an important pillar of people-centric governance. She reiterated that ensuring justice for every eligible person and fulfilling the aspirations of the people remains the top priority of the Punjab Government.
The representatives of SC/BC Teachers’ Unions thanked Dr Baljit Kaur for giving them a patient hearing and providing positive assurance on their demands. They expressed confidence that the Punjab Government would continue to uphold social justice and protect constitutional rights with the same commitment.
