The Bharatiya Janata Party organised a massive public rally in Village Gatwali under the Talwandi Sabo Assembly constituency to mark the visit of Punjab BJP President Sardar Kewal Singh Dhillon. The rally witnessed an overwhelming turnout of party leaders, workers and villagers from across the rural belt of Bathinda district.
Addressing the gathering, Punjab BJP President Kewal Singh Dhillon launched a sharp attack on the functioning of the Aam Aadmi Party government. He said that both Punjab’s agriculture and its youth are standing on the brink of destruction. On one hand, the whitefly infestation has devastated the cotton crop across the Malwa region, while on the other, “Chitta” (synthetic drugs) has ruined Punjab’s young generation. He said that despite the AAP government’s promise to eradicate drugs within three months, drug abuse continues to grow with each passing day, exposing the government’s complete failure in tackling the menace.
Dhillon said the AAP government has been continuously burdening Punjab with mounting debt. When it assumed office, the state’s debt stood at ₹2.82 lakh crore, which has now risen to nearly ₹4.5 lakh crore. Despite this massive borrowing, no meaningful development has taken place, he alleged, adding that leaders sent from Delhi are busy looting Punjab. He said that just as Ahmad Shah Abdali had plundered Punjab in history, the Delhi leadership of the Aam Aadmi Party is now exploiting the state in a similar manner. Dhillon described Arvind Kejriwal as “a master of political theatrics” and asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party believes in delivering results, not drama.
Dhillon further said that the Aam Aadmi Party has betrayed the women of Punjab in the name of guarantees. Instead of fulfilling its promise for the entire term, the government is merely creating a spectacle by releasing the equivalent of only three months’ assistance, and even that amount, he alleged, is not reaching all eligible women properly.
The Punjab BJP President said that the BJP is in power in 22 states across the country, setting examples of good governance and development. He asserted that Punjab’s problems can only be resolved through a “double-engine government.” He alleged that while the Modi-led Central Government provides funds for road construction and development works in Punjab, the “publicity-oriented Chief Minister” merely pastes his own photographs on centrally funded projects to claim undeserved credit.
Speaking on Punjab’s law and order and education systems, Dhillon said the situation has deteriorated to such an extent that even AAP MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal has been compelled to write letters to the Punjab Director General of Police. He said the letter itself exposes the alarming state of law and order under the present government.
Dhillon further alleged that four government recruitment examinations have witnessed paper leaks, while two other cheating cases have also surfaced. However, he said, while Kejriwal and AAP leaders remain vocal in Delhi, they have maintained complete silence over the repeated paper leak scandals in Punjab.
Calling upon the people to support the BJP, Dhillon said that if Punjabis want to secure the future of their children and restore a prosperous, peaceful and welfare-oriented governance model inspired by Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s “Sarkar-e-Khalsa,” they must elect a Bharatiya Janata Party government in the coming elections.
On the occasion, Sukhwinder Singh and Navjot Singh, along with several of their supporters, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. Welcoming the new entrants, Sardar Kewal Singh Dhillon assured them of full respect and an appropriate role within the party.
