Chandigarh, August 13
International Youth Day 2026 was celebrated at Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College, Sector 32-C, Chandigarh by Global Youth Federation in collaboration with the State NSS Cell, U.T. Chandigarh; MY Bharat Chandigarh, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India; Rotary Club Chandigarh; APSWDP and the host college.
The programme brought together youth leaders, volunteers, social workers, educators and students to highlight youth leadership, volunteerism, humanitarian service and community development. Saurabh Joshi, Mayor of Chandigarh, attended the programme as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, Joshi highlighted the important role of youth in nation-building and called upon young people to actively participate in volunteerism and community service.
The highlight of the programme was the Award and Recognition Ceremony where individuals, NGOs, educators, social workers, volunteers and young changemakers were honoured for their contribution to humanitarian service and community development. The programme also featured cultural performances, motivational sessions and international youth messages.
Participants also took the TB Mukt Bharat Pledge and Swachhta Pledge. Vinay Kumar administered the Swachhta Pledge to the participants reaffirming their commitment to cleanliness and a healthier nation. Speaking on the occasion, Rohit Kumar, Director, Global Youth Federation, India, emphasised the importance of providing young people with opportunities, recognition and leadership platforms to contribute towards an inclusive and sustainable society.
