Chandigarh, July 14
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Member of Parliament from Sri Anandpur Sahib, Malvinder Singh Kang, hailed the notification of The Punjab Regulation of Fee of Unaided Educational Institutions (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026 as a historic and people-centric decision, stating that it marks a major victory for the parents and students of Punjab.
Expressing gratitude to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Kang said the Punjab Government has fulfilled its commitment to protect families from the arbitrary and unjustified fee hikes imposed by private schools. He said the ordinance reflects the government’s firm political will to put the interests of common people above those of powerful private institutions.
Kang said that for years, private unaided schools exploited parents by increasing fees at will and treating education as a commercial enterprise. With the implementation of this ordinance, such arbitrary practices will come to an end. He added that the government has made it clear that no unaided private educational institution will be allowed to increase fees by more than five per cent, bringing transparency and accountability to the system.
Kang said the ordinance will significantly reduce the financial burden on lakhs of families across Punjab and provide much-needed relief to parents who have long struggled with unchecked fee hikes.
Appealing directly to the people of his constituency, Kang said that if any private school continues to indulge in arbitrary fee hikes or any other form of exploitation, parents should immediately approach his office. He informed that his office, located at Plot No. 577, Gillco Valley, Sector 127, Kharar, will remain open from 9:00 AM onwards every day to assist parents facing such issues.
Kang assured that he, along with his team, would extend every possible support to affected families and ensure that no private school is allowed to violate the law or exploit parents. Kang reiterated that the Bhagwant Mann-led government is fully committed to ending the exploitation of parents and making education affordable, transparent and accessible for every child in Punjab.
