Chandigarh, June 23
Former Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar has said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will have to face the consequences for committing sacrilege against the Gurus and for challenging Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
In a message shared on social media, he wrote: “Sharamu dharamu dui chhapi khaloe, koorh phirai pardhanu ve Lalo. Kajia baamna ki gal thaki, agadu parai saitaanu ve Lalo.”
Jakhar said that this verse from Gurbani, spoken by the Gurus centuries ago, aptly applies to the present situation in Punjab, where, according to him, the Chief Minister himself is committing sacrilege and his officers are arranging false reports to shield him.
Jakhar said that when the ruler himself is guilty and the police, whose duty is to act, instead cover up his wrongdoing, then mere resignations or the suspension of officers who have become partners in the sin will not be enough. Such grave crimes, he said, will ultimately be judged by the Gurus themselves.
Jakhar further said that whoever has confronted Sri Akal Takht Sahib has met their downfall. He added that it would have been better if the Chief Minister had admitted his mistake, but instead he is committing further wrongs in an attempt to conceal his original offense.
Jakhar said that, without delay, the Chief Minister should resign from office, the officers who prepared the allegedly false report should be suspended. and an investigation should be conducted within two days under the supervision of the High Court. He also demanded that a case be registered against the Chief Minister under the sacrilege law.
