Taking another significant step towards water conservation, Patiala Foundation organized its third workshop under the “Save Water: Think, Act, Preserve” initiative at Budha Dal Public School, Patiala. The initiative was conducted in collaboration with the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology (PSCST), with support from the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India.

The workshop was conducted under Project PRITHVI, an initiative of Patiala Foundation focused on promoting sustainable practices, environmental awareness, and responsible living among communities, especially the youth.

The session commenced with a pre-activity assessment, designed to encourage students to reflect on their existing knowledge and practices related to water usage and conservation. This was followed by a series of well-structured and insightful sessions, thoughtfully conceptualized by the Founder and CEO of Patiala Foundation, Ravee Singh Ahluwalia, aimed at fostering awareness and promoting responsible environmental behaviour among students.

The workshop commenced with an informative session on clean and safe water and the growing concern of water scarcity, delivered by Dr. Abhinandan Bassi. She highlighted the importance of safeguarding water resources to ensure public health, environmental balance, and long-term sustainability. Emphasizing the urgent need for conservation, she discussed the causes and consequences of water scarcity, including overconsumption, pollution, and climate change. Through relatable examples and practical insights, she encouraged students to adopt responsible water usage habits, maintain hygiene, and actively contribute towards preserving this vital resource for future generations.

Further enriching the workshop, Nishu Gupta delivered an engaging presentation highlighting how individuals can think, act, and preserve water in their everyday lives. Her session incorporated activity-based learning, relatable real-life examples, and practical strategies, encouraging students to adopt simple yet effective habits for responsible and mindful water usage.

Through guided discussions and interactive activities, students explored key issues such as water wastage, sustainable consumption, and conservation methods, including reuse, mindful usage, and rainwater harvesting. The workshop emphasized translating awareness into action by encouraging students to adopt sustainable habits.

The activities were efficiently supported by Navdeep, an intern from DSW, Punjabi University, ensuring smooth coordination and enthusiastic participation from all students. Aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), the initiative highlighted the importance of collective responsibility. Sharing his vision, Mr. Ravee Singh Ahluwalia conveyed, “The future of water conservation depends on the choices we make today. By adopting simple, mindful habits, we can collectively safeguard this vital resource for generations to come.”

The organizing team extends its sincere gratitude to the staff of Budha Dal Public School, Patiala, especially  Harpreet Kaur (Principal), Kavita Nagdev, Mandeep Kaur, Priya Chauhan, Maljinder Kaur and Taranjeet Kaur, for their valuable support, cooperation, and coordination in making the session a success.
