Patiala, April 17
Patiala Foundation, under its flagship initiative Project iHERITAGE, in collaboration with Multani Mal Modi College, successfully organised a Heritage Walk for students of the Department of Social Sciences and Department of Sociology in commemoration of Heritage Day celebration. The initiative was enthusiastically led by Sukhraj Kaur and Anahat Dhanda, students of BA 3rd Year, whose efforts played a key role in initiating and coordinating the walk.
The walk was conducted at the iconic Musafir Memorial Central State Library as part of the Foundation’s ongoing initiative aimed at familiarising young citizens with the rich cultural heritage of their city. Stepping beyond classrooms, students engaged with the living history of Patiala—exploring heritage spaces, listening to local narratives, and appreciating architectural grandeur. The experience encouraged participants to view themselves not merely as visitors, but as custodians of the city’s legacy.
Promoting such initiatives, Ravee Singh Ahluwalia, CEO and Founder of Patiala Foundation, expressed, “Such walks are not only about revisiting the past but also about building a sense of belonging and shared responsibility among the youth. As future change-makers, students must carry forward this spirit of ownership, ensuring that heritage conservation becomes a community-driven priority. Patiala Foundation’s KYC 2.0 is designed to host such walks for students of all ages.”
The Foundation extends its sincere gratitude to Dr. Neeraj Goyal (Principal), Professor Jagdeep Kaur (Vice Principal and Head of the Department of Social Sciences) and Dr. Harshdeep Kaur (Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology) for their support and encouragement towards this initiative. Dr. Harshdeep Kaur also accompanied the students during the walk, adding valuable academic insights to the experience.
Patiala Foundation also expresses heartfelt thanks to Dr. Charanjeet Kaur (Chief Librarian), Rupinder Singh (Librarian), and the entire staff of Musafir Memorial Central State Library for their cooperation and support in facilitating the heritage walk. Ahluwalia further extended an open invitation to educational institutions across Patiala to collaborate in making heritage walks an integral part of learning, thereby strengthening students’ connection with the city’s identity and fostering civic pride.
Through Project iHERITAGE, Patiala Foundation is redefining education by transforming history from textbooks into experiential journeys—where heritage, culture, and civic responsibility converge. These immersive initiatives spark curiosity, instill pride in one’s roots, and highlight the importance of community participation in building sustainable cities.
The collaboration with Multani Mal Modi College further reinforces the belief that integrating heritage awareness with education inspires responsible citizenship. The walk concluded with reflections from students, who shared how the experience deepened their connection with Patiala and broadened their understanding of their role in preserving cultural and civic values.
