Chandigarh, May 24
The General Secretary of All India Congress Committee, CWC Member, Former Union Minister and Sirsa MP Kumari Selja said that the BJP government’s failed policies have pushed the country into crisis, adding that people are struggling with issues related to education, electricity, water supply and rising fuel prices. She said Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi had earlier warned that the country was heading towards difficult times, but instead of addressing public grievances, the BJP government remained focused on “event management and publicity.
Targeting the government over the NEET paper leak controversy, Selja said such incidents were not merely examination irregularities but an attack on the dreams of lakhs of students. Referring to the alleged suicide of a student from Sikar in Rajasthan, she termed the incident “deeply tragic and alarming. Selja said families were taking loans to educate their children, but the future of deserving students was being ruined by “paper leak mafias. The Congress, she added, stands firmly with the affected family and demands strict action against those responsible. The Sirsa MP alleged that the BJP government had completely failed to ensure a transparent and secure examination system for the youth. The education system is increasingly falling into the hands of mafias while the government remains a silent spectator.
Selja demanding accountability and the resignation of the education minister on moral grounds. Kumari Selja further alleged that immediately after elections, the government had started burdening the public with inflation. She said the continuous increase in petrol and diesel prices was severely affecting farmers, labourers, the middle class and small traders. She also raised concerns over the growing power and water crisis in several states, including Haryana, claiming that people in both urban and rural areas were facing prolonged power cuts and shortage of drinking water without any concrete government plan in place. The Congress leader said rising LPG prices had disturbed the household budgets of women and poor families. She accused the BJP government of indulging in “politics of announcements and publicity while asserting that the Congress would continue to fight for the rights of youth, farmers, labourers and common citizens from the streets to Parliament.
