Statistics Day 2026: Seminar organized on theme of ‘Unlocking Potential of Administrative Data’

The National Statistical Office (Field Operations Division), Regional Office, Mohali, organized a Seminar on the occasion of Statistics Day 2026 under the theme “Unlocking the Potential of Administrative Data.”

The Seminar was graced by Ram Krishan, Retired Deputy Director General (DDG), as the Chief Guest and Vinay Kumar, Retired Director, as the Guest of Honour. The programme was presided over by Himmat Singh Raghav, Deputy Director General (DDG). Sneh Kirti, Deputy Director, along with around 50 officers and staff members of the National Statistical Office, Mohali, participated in the event.

In his address, the Chief Guest highlighted the importance of administrative data in evidence-based policymaking and governance. The speakers emphasized the need to improve the quality, timeliness, and effective use of administrative records to strengthen official statistics.

In his presidential remarks, Himmat Singh Raghav stated that the effective use of administrative data would play a crucial role in making official statistics more robust, reliable, and useful. Participants also shared their views and suggestions on the theme during the Seminar. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks to all dignitaries, participants, and supporting staff.
