Chandigarh, July 19
Former Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Chandigarh MP Manish Tewari today dedicated six newly constructed lanes in Deep Complex Hullo Majra to its residents out of the MPLAD funds. Speaking on the occasion, Tewari stressed that these developmental works should be undertaken by the Municipal Corporation and the MPLADS funds are only meant to provide interventions in the field of education and public health, so that the quality of life of citizens could become better. However, since the MC falls short in providing basic infrastructure to the people of the city, therefore we are compelled to use our MPLADS funds in order to fulfil these basic infrastructure needs of the people.
Tewari also reiterated that it is important to keep developmental initiatives above parties and politics. If development takes place in any part of the city or any part of the country, it benefits all the residents or the citizens of that area or country, because in a given geographical area, people of all shades of opinion reside. He also addressed a gathering of young students at the Chandigarh Territorial Congress Committee office. While addressing the students, he recalled his national president of the NSUI from 1988 to 1993 and asked the students to dedicate themselves to the maxim of study and struggle, which means that students should be diligent with their studies but they should simultaneously fight to create a better and more equitable society.
Among those who attended the function included HS Lucky, Chandramukhi Sharma, Wasim Mir, Imran Mansouri, Kaptan Singh Lambardar, Harmeet Singh, Jaswant Singh, Kirpa Nand Thakur, Dinesh Jha, Ghanshyam Rana, and others.
