Chandigarh, July 29
Two premier institutions — IIT Ropar and Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh — from Punjab LSA were felicitated by Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Union Minister of Communications, during the Bharat 6G Alliance (B6GA) Review Meeting, held on 28 July 2026 at New Delhi for their outstanding performance under the 100 5G Use Case Labs Initiative of the Department of Telecommunications.
IIT Ropar secured the Second Position in the Capacity and Foundation Excellence category, recognizing its achievements in student participation, faculty engagement, and project development. Punjab Engineering College (Deemed University), Chandigarh was awarded the Third Position in the same category for its commendable contribution to strengthening the 5G innovation ecosystem.
The awards were presented in the august presence of Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, Minister of State for Communications, Amit Agrawal, Secretary (Telecommunications), Anand Khare DG Telecom and other senior officers of the Department of Telecommunications. The recognition underscores the significant contribution of these institutions towards advancing indigenous 5G research, innovation, and capacity building, in line with the Government of India’s vision of establishing global leadership in next-generation telecom technologies.
