Gonda, June 6

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath assured the people of Gonda that what used to happen before 2017 will no longer happen. He said, “In 2015-16, attempts were made to create riots during Durga Puja in Gonda. Immersion of Goddess Durga idols was not allowed, and obstacles were created during Ramlila events. Disturbances would begin before festivals and celebrations. Before 2017, those in power would bow before rioters and habitual criminals, and curfews would remain in force for months.”

The Chief Minister warned that now, if anyone tries to spoil the spirit of celebrations, they will lose both their present and future. On Saturday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated and laid foundation stones for projects worth Rs 256 crore in Katra Assembly constituency and Rs 260 crore in Karnailganj, taking the total value of projects in Gonda to Rs 516 crore. He also performed the Annaprashan ceremony for children and visited various stalls.

The Chief Minister said, “Investment does not come in an atmosphere of insecurity. There was once a crisis of identity, youth were distressed, farmers faced difficulties, and women and girls felt unsafe. When Uttar Pradesh was counted among the least developed states, it did not receive respect either. Today, all 75 districts, 350 tehsils, 825 development blocks, 762 urban local bodies, 14,000 wards and more than 57,000 gram panchayats are receiving the benefits of government schemes without discrimination.”

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, “Gonda’s youth are energetic, its farmers hardworking, and its women talented. The district’s artisans and craftsmen have left their mark across the country and the world through their skills. Gonda also played a leading role in the freedom movement. However, after Independence, the development it deserved was sacrificed to appeasement, lawlessness, nepotism and caste-based politics, and Gonda had to bear the consequences. In the absence of planned efforts, the district continued to lag behind.”

The Chief Minister said, “There was a time when, like many other districts, Gonda’s youth also faced an identity crisis. There were no employment opportunities in the state. When young people went outside Uttar Pradesh, people in other states would keep their distance and look at them with suspicion.” He added, “The development carried out under Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the past 12 years and under the BJP’s double-engine government over the past nine years has changed this situation. Today, citizens of Uttar Pradesh no longer struggle for recognition. Now, when people hear the name of Uttar Pradesh, their faces light up and they appear eager to embrace them.”

The Chief Minister said, “People outside the state now behave in a friendly manner because they know that anyone seeking the blessings of Lord Ram should befriend the people of Gonda, which is adjacent to Ayodhya.” He said Uttar Pradesh’s youth are now getting government jobs. In the recruitment of 60,244 personnel in Uttar Pradesh Police, young people from Gonda, Shravasti, Bahraich and Balrampur also received jobs. CM Yogi added that whenever he reviews the list before appointment letters are distributed, he feels happy to see that youth from Gonda are receiving government jobs without discrimination.
