Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday unveiled the Uttarakhand Police’s new flag, emblem, formation sign, insignia, crest and ceremonial uniform at a programme held at the Chief Minister’s residence. On the occasion, he also inaugurated Vigilance Awareness Week 2026, based on the theme “Prosperity through Integrity”, and administered the National Unity Pledge to all those present.

The Chief Minister also congratulated and honoured Shahjahan Javed Khan and Jagdish Chandra, who were promoted from the Uttarakhand Police Service to the Indian Police Service (IPS), by presenting them with their insignia.

Congratulating Uttarakhand Police officers and personnel on the unveiling of the new symbols of pride, the Chief Minister said that giving a new identity to the police force was not merely a change in symbols and uniforms but a significant step towards strengthening the force’s glorious traditions, valour, discipline, and commitment to duty. He said the new symbols not only inspire pride but also reinforce responsibility.

Dhami emphasized that the true meaning of this new identity would be reflected when every citizen experiences sensitivity in police behaviour, efficiency in functioning, and impartiality in action. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, continuous efforts are being made to realize the vision of smart policing in the country. Equipping Uttarakhand Police with modern technology and making it more trained, efficient, and capable remains a priority of the state government, he added.

The Chief Minister noted that Uttarakhand Police’s new motto, “Karma Satyam Shauryam” (Duty, Truth and Valour), conveys the values of dedication, integrity, and courage. He urged all police officers and personnel to imbibe these ideals in their conduct and working style, stating that the honour of the uniform is upheld by behaviour and public trust is earned through service.

Highlighting the significance of the occasion coinciding with National Unity Day, Dhami recalled the historic contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s first Home Minister and the architect of national unity, in strengthening the country’s unity, integrity, and internal security. He said the occasion served as inspiration to further strengthen the commitment to national unity, discipline, duty, and service to the nation.

Launching Vigilance Awareness Week, the Chief Minister said that alongside development, it is equally important to ensure honesty, transparency, and accountability in governance. He observed that the true objective of development can only be achieved when public resources are utilized properly and citizens receive government services without difficulty.

Reiterating the state government’s zero-tolerance policy against corruption, Dhami said the Vigilance Department plays a crucial role in ensuring a corruption-free administration. He stressed that, besides acting on corruption complaints, it is also necessary to eliminate systemic deficiencies that create opportunities for corruption. He appealed to citizens to raise their voice against corruption and report any such cases through the anti-corruption helpline 1064.

The Chief Minister directed the Chief Secretary to conduct regular reviews of the 1064 helpline, similar to the Chief Minister’s helpline, and ensure that every complaint received is taken seriously and acted upon in accordance with rules. He also urged all officers and employees to listen sensitively to people visiting government offices and ensure timely disposal of their work.

Dhami said that Uttarakhand must build a corruption-free system where every citizen is treated with dignity, public services are delivered efficiently, and trust between the people and the administration continues to grow stronger.

The Chief Minister further stated that it is a matter of great pride for the state that on November 6, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will confer the prestigious President’s Police Colour on Uttarakhand Police. On that occasion, Uttarakhand Police personnel will participate in the parade in their newly introduced ceremonial uniforms.

Expressing confidence in the force, Dhami said Uttarakhand Police, with its new identity, would set fresh benchmarks in public service, discipline, efficiency, and commitment to duty.
