Dehradun, July 28
In view of the Orange Alert issued by the India Meteorological Department for most districts of the state and the continuous rainfall since Monday night in various regions, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami early Tuesday morning sought detailed information from Secretary, Disaster Management & Rehabilitation, Vinod Kumar Suman regarding rainfall across the state, the situation in different districts, blocked road routes, river water levels, waterlogging, relief and rescue operations, and administrative preparedness.
Meanwhile, Disaster Management & Rehabilitation Minister Madan Kaushik and Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan also obtained updates from Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman on the situation arising due to rainfall across the state. They directed that all state and district-level emergency operation centers remain active round-the-clock, continuously monitor every incident, and ensure prompt and coordinated action in case of any emergency.
Dhami said that all departments in the state must work in complete coordination on 24×7 alert mode. There should not be even a moment’s delay in relief and rescue operations during any disaster or emergency. He instructed officials to ensure immediate action on every report and timely availability of necessary resources in affected areas. He directed district magistrates and senior departmental officers to visit the field and personally assess the situation.
The Chief Minister ordered that road routes blocked due to rainfall be reopened on priority. He emphasized ensuring adequate availability of JCBs, Poklen machines, dozers, and other necessary machinery and resources so that traffic movement can be normalized quickly and relief and rescue operations are not hindered.
CM also directed that heli services be kept fully on alert mode so that relief and rescue operations can be immediately carried out in remote and disaster-affected areas, and assistance can reach the needy without delay. The Chief Minister instructed officials that if heavy rainfall or landslides disrupt electricity, drinking water, or communication services at any location, the concerned departments must ensure their immediate restoration on top priority.
Highlighting the safety of pilgrims on the Char Dham Yatra and other routes, the Chief Minister directed that in case of heavy rainfall or landslides, travelers should be stopped at safe locations and only allowed to proceed once weather and road conditions normalize.
Disaster Management Secretary Reviews Situation
Dehradun. Following the Chief Minister’s directives, Disaster Management & Rehabilitation Secretary Shri Vinod Kumar Suman on Tuesday held a virtual meeting with officials of all districts to review the state’s situation. He apprised them of the CM’s instructions and emphasized that special vigilance be maintained in sensitive areas, and all departments ensure swift action with mutual coordination.
CM directed district magistrates to regularly review relief and rescue operations in their districts and ensure immediate effective action in case of any emergency. Shri Suman informed that the State Emergency Operation Center is continuously monitoring the situation across the state 24×7, maintaining constant coordination with all district emergency operation centers, district magistrates, and concerned departments.
