Union Home Minister Amit Shah has kept his promise, with the CBI launching its investigation into the Parvinder Singh Jhota case last night, Punjab BJP President Kewal Singh Dhillon said on Wednesday. Dhillon said Shah had assured Jhota’s family during a meeting in Mansa on Tuesday that the case would be handed over to the CBI. According to Dhillon, the agency’s team reached Mansa later that night to begin the investigation, and a case was registered against the accused. He expressed confidence that the CBI would conduct a fair and impartial investigation, bring the probe to a swift conclusion and ensure strict punishment for those found guilty. Reiterating the BJP’s commitment to securing justice for Parvinder Singh Jhota and other victims, Dhillon said the investigation must establish accountability and ensure that everyone responsible is brought to justice.

He also urged the Punjab Government to transfer the Gulzar Singh and Bikramjit Singh cases to the CBI, following the same course of action as in the Jhota case. He said an independent investigation would help ensure justice for the families concerned. Dhillon further expressed confidence that Shah’s resolve to make Punjab drug-free by December 31, 2029, would be fulfilled, adding that the state would be freed from the menace of drugs.

Backing the demands of Jhota’s family and the Struggle Committee, Dhillon called for the resignation of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. He alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party government had failed on multiple fronts, including governance, the fight against drugs and the maintenance of law and order in the state.
