Chandigarh, October 28
The BJP has expressed deep concern over incidents of firing at two Gurdwaras at different locations in Punjab within two days. Punjab BJP President Kewal Singh Dhillon said that these incidents are extremely unfortunate and condemnable. He stated that the attacks on Gurdwaras have once again exposed the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. The BJP state president said that instead of declining, incidents of murder and firing in Punjab have now reached Gurdwaras.
Dhillon said that firing took place at Gurdwara Gopal Sar Sahib near village Gaggar in Ludhiana district during the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday. On Wednesday morning, another firing incident occurred at Gurdwara Manji Sahib in village Rajoana Kalan, Raikot. He said that with the Assembly elections approaching, miscreants are attempting to disturb the peaceful atmosphere of Punjab. Under this alleged conspiracy, Gurdwaras are being targeted to spread fear and unrest across the state.
Dhillon launched a direct attack on the state government’s functioning, saying that the repeated occurrence of such incidents exposes the failure of the Aam Aadmi Party government. He questioned why criminals in the state have become so emboldened and pointed out that the Chief Minister also holds the Home portfolio, making him responsible for answering these questions.
Dhillon demanded that the government stop indulging in false propaganda and focus on restoring law and order in the state. He called for the immediate arrest of the culprits and strict action against them. He also urged the government to ensure the security of every Gurdwara Sahib, along with the safety of ordinary citizens.
