Chandigarh, July 28
Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) President Rao Narendra Singh, reacting to the serious objections raised by the Principal Accountant General (Audit) regarding the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor’s wife as Director of the Campus School at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (HAU), said that the case is yet another example of nepotism, favouritism, and blatant disregard for rules under the BJP government.
Singh said that the audit report clearly states that the appointment was made without inviting applications and without following the established recruitment process. This not only deprived eligible candidates of their right to equal opportunity but also raised serious questions about the transparency and credibility of a prestigious institution like the university.
Singh further said that if the government fails to take action despite the findings of the audit report, the Divisional Commissioner’s inquiry, and the objections raised by the Education Department, it will prove that the BJP government is protecting corruption and violations of established rules.
The HPCC President said that Haryana’s education system is already struggling with a large number of vacant teaching posts, dilapidated school infrastructure, and irregularities in recruitment. At such a time, making arbitrary appointments in universities by bypassing established rules is deeply concerning. Merit and transparency must remain the highest priorities in educational institutions, not personal relationships and influence.
Singh demanded that the Chief Minister order a fair and time-bound inquiry into the matter, initiate strict action against the officials found responsible, and ensure that recruitment processes in all universities and government institutions are conducted in a completely transparent and rule-based manner. He added that the Congress Party would raise this issue before the people and would not allow any compromise with the autonomy and transparency of educational institutions.
