Chandigarh, June 2

Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) president Rao Narendra Singh strongly condemned BJP MP Manoj Tiwari’s remarks describing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi as a traitor, calling them a direct attack on democracy, the Constitution, and political decorum. He said that BJP leaders are repeatedly resorting to such objectionable language in an attempt to suppress the voice of the opposition and divert attention from issues affecting the public.

Singh stated that Rahul Gandhi has consistently raised the concerns of the poor, workers, farmers, youth, women and marginalized sections of society. If speaking for the rights of ordinary citizens and fighting against unemployment, inflation, and social inequality is considered treason, then every citizen who raises their voice against injustice would also have to be labeled a traitor.

Singh further said that dissent and criticism have always been respected in Indian democracy. Calling an opposition leader a traitor merely because of political differences is not only an insult to democratic traditions but also harmful to the country’s political culture. BJP leaders should understand that political debates should be based on facts and policies, not on personal allegations and insulting remarks.

The Haryana Congress President said that Rahul Gandhi has continuously highlighted the country’s economic, social and democratic issues. To silence his voice, the BJP is resorting to baseless allegations and irresponsible statements. However, the Congress Party is not afraid of such politics and will continue to fight for the interests of the people with the same determination as before.

Singh demanded that Manoj Tiwari immediately issue a public apology for his statement. He warned that if the BJP MP fails to do so, the Congress Party will organize democratic protests not only across Haryana but throughout the country and expose what he described as the BJP’s anti-people and arrogant politics before the public.

Singh added that the Congress Party remains committed to protecting the Constitution, democracy, and the rights of the people, and will continue to strongly oppose any attempts to suppress the voice of the opposition through political intimidation and undemocratic means.
