Chandigarh, April 16
The Indian National Congress has taken stern disciplinary action, suspending five legislators from Haryana with immediate effect for breaching organizational discipline. Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee president Rao Narendra Singh announced that MLAs Shaili Chaudhary (Narayanagarh), Renu Bala (Sadhaura), Jarnail Singh (Ratia), Mohammad Ilyas (Punhana), and Mohammad Izrail (Hathin) have been suspended from the party’s primary membership due to activities deemed anti-party.
Singh clarified that the move followed recommendations of the state disciplinary committee and was approved by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge. The suspended legislators had allegedly voted against the party’s official candidate in the recently concluded Rajya Sabha elections, an act described as a grave violation of party discipline.
Singh emphasized that discipline is paramount in the Congress, warning that any defiance of collective decisions or official party positions will invite strict consequences. He added that this decision serves as a clear message to all leaders and workers that organizational integrity cannot be compromised.
