Narnaul/Chandigarh, May 9

Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee President Rao Narendra Singh visited the protest site of agitating Municipal Council and Fire Department employees in Narnaul and extended his support to their movement. During the visit, he termed the employees’ demands as justified and accused the BJP government of continuously neglecting and exploiting employees.

Singh said that due to the wrong policies of the BJP government, employees across the state feel cheated. Municipal, sanitation and fire department employees have been struggling for a long time to get their demands fulfilled, but instead of resolving their issues, the government is ignoring them. He said that employees are being made to work continuously, but the government has completely failed to provide them with permanent employment, fair wages, social security, and other basic facilities. He stated that the Congress party has always stood in support of employees’ rights and will continue to fight for their dignity and welfare.

Singh assured the protesting employees that the Congress party would strongly raise their voice from the streets to the Vidhan Sabha. Targeting the BJP government, the Congress state president said that every section of society in Haryana is suffering today. Employees, farmers, youth, and traders are all troubled by the anti-people policies of the BJP government. He alleged that the government is only busy making tall claims and publicity, while the condition of employees on the ground is continuously worsening.

Singh demanded that the pending demands of Municipal Council and Fire Department employees should be fulfilled immediately, contractual employees should be regularized, and injustice against employees must be stopped. He also said that fire department employees risk their lives at all times while serving the public. Therefore, he demanded compensation of ₹1 crore and one government job for the families of firefighters who recently lost their lives while on duty.

On this occasion, employee leaders and Congress workers also highlighted the issues faced by employees in detail and resolved to strengthen the movement.
