Chandigarh, November 1
Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon said that by holding a rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on November 1, the Congress and the INDIA alliance have rubbed salt into the wounds of Sikhs, for which the Congress can never be forgiven. He said the Congress first had thousands of Sikhs massacred on this day in 1984, and the entire community still mourns on this day. Even after 42 years, instead of seeking forgiveness for its sin, the Congress is holding rallies and reopening the wounds of Sikhs.
State president Dhillon said the Congress should have apologised to the victims’ families on this day, but is instead putting on a show of strength. He said this reflects the Congress’s anti-Sikh mindset. Dhillon said that, having failed to win the people’s mandate, the Congress is frustrated and blaming constitutional institutions. Unable to bear continuous defeats, he said, the Congress is in a state of agitation and is blaming the Election Commission.
Dhillon also said that during the festive season, this rally has caused shopkeepers and traders in Delhi to suffer losses worth crores of rupees, which is highly condemnable.
