Dehradun, June 23
Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan has directed that fire safety standards be firmly enforced in all government and non-government buildings across the state. He instructed all secretaries and district magistrates to mandatorily carry out on-site surveys, especially of high-rise buildings, densely populated areas, premises with unsafe exit routes, and structures located in narrow lanes and passages. The primary objective of this campaign is to eliminate any potential fire hazards well in advance. Mandatory safety audits and strict compliance with rules in all departments The Chief Secretary has assigned each departmental secretary the responsibility of conducting comprehensive safety audits within their respective departments and related sectors. He made it clear that after the surveys, all essential fire safety norms must be ensured. Officials concerned have been strictly warned to follow up on compliance and not to show any negligence in maintaining safety standards.
