In a significant step towards strengthening blood transfusion services in the region, Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain on Tuesday inaugurated a Blood Components Preparation Unit at the Red Cross Blood Centre. Assistant Commissioner Payal Goyal, Secretary Red Cross Navneet Joshi, Blood Transfusion Officer Dr. Manvi Gupta and others.
Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain stated the newly established facility will enable the separation of whole blood into vital components such as packed red cells, platelets, and plasma, ensuring optimal utilization of each donated unit. This advancement will enhance patient care by providing targeted therapy and improving availability of life-saving blood components.
Jain also appreciated the efforts of the Red Cross Society and the medical team in upgrading the infrastructure and emphasized the importance of voluntary blood donation and modernized blood banking services in saving lives.
Assistant Commissioner Payal Goyal highlighted the role of such initiatives in strengthening public health systems, while Navneet Joshi expressed gratitude to all contributors and reiterated the Red Cross commitment to community service.
Dr. Manvi Gupta elaborated on the technical capabilities of the new unit and its role in ensuring safe, efficient, and quality-assured blood component therapy for patients in need.
The Deputy Commissioner also honoured the Rehras Sewa Society and Nirankari Mission for their valuable contributions towards the Red Cross, along with recognition of regular blood donors for their continued support.
