Ludhiana, July 10

Parveen Bansal, Incharge of Bharatiya Janata Party for Ludhiana (North) Assembly Constituency, today raised serious concerns over the quality of construction work of the protective wall being built along Buddha Dariya in the North Assembly area.

Bansal said that while heavy stones are being placed on top of the wall to make it appear strong, local residents have raised several questions regarding the quality of construction. He alleged that if proper material as per specifications has not been used in the foundation and the work is being done only for show, the wall could weaken during heavy rainfall and strong water flow. This could pose a serious threat to the safety of nearby residents.

Bansal further stated that the administration’s first priority should have been the cleaning of Buddha Dariya, removal of silt, and improvement of the drainage system to prevent waterlogging and flood-like situations during the monsoon season.

Bansal demanded that the Punjab Government get the construction work examined by an independent technical agency. “If any irregularities or corruption are found during the inquiry, strict action should be taken against the concerned officials and contractors,” he demanded.

While concluding, Bansal said that the Bharatiya Janata Party will continue to strongly raise every issue related to public interest and will keep raising its voice to ensure quality and transparency in development works.
