Dewan and Satvir laud Canadian hospitality, call for deeper Indo Canadian relations

Former Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) General Secretary Pawan Dewan and former Chairman of the Planning Board SBS Nagar Satvir Singh Palijikki today held whirlwind meetings with several Canadian MPs and MPPs. Dewan and Satvir, accompanied by the National Vice-President of the Liberal Party, Canada, Hardam Mangat, former President of Indian Overseas Congress (Canada) Amarpreet Aulakh and eminent Canadian personalities including Arvind Bhardwaj and Gurjeet Sidhu, convened meetings with the Canadian MPs Amarjit Gill and Sonia Sandhu.

Giving the details, Dewan and Satvir said that it was extremely fruitful to have interactions with Canadian MPs and MPPs, where they held meaningful discussions on various pertinent issues relating to India and Canada. “Several issues related to immigration and visas were the main focus during our meetings. We primarily emphasized strengthening Indo‑Canadian relations while highlighting concerns faced by the Indian diaspora in Canada,” they said, adding that it was heartening to see the positive response of MPs Gill and Sandhu.

Dewan and Satvir further said that their meeting with Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown, MPP Hardeep Grewal, and MP Iqwinder S. Gaheer was extremely enlightening. “We held a host of deliberations on a range of issues,” they noted. Apart from them, Dewan and Satvir also met Amarjit Gurcha, Gurdeep Jhajj, Jarnail Grewal, Jaspal Gahunia, Pankaj Gupta, Tejwant Singh Saini, CA Jagdeep Banga, Harsh Pabla, Gurcharan Garry Bhaura, Vishal Banda, Sunil Bajaj and Pinta Brar. “We also had one‑to‑one interactions with transporters, realtors, chartered accountants, advocates and businessmen there, discussing matters related to their respective professions,” they added.

Talking about their meetings with numerous MPs and MPPs, as well as members of the Indian diaspora and professionals now settled across Canada, Dewan and Satvir said, “The hospitality we received in Canada truly touched our hearts. The openness with which our discussions took place was highly appreciable. We are hopeful that ties between the two nations will grow even stronger in the days to come.” They thanked everyone they met in Canada from the bottom of their hearts for such warmth and hospitality.
