Chandigarh, April 27

Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) president Rao Narendra Singh strongly condemned the indecent remarks made by BJP MP Rekha Sharma against former Chief Minister Late Bhajan Lal and MLA Chander Mohan. He said that such statements are completely shameful, unacceptable and a grave insult to the people of the state. He added that such remarks not only violate political decorum but also raise serious questions over democratic values and social civility.

Singh said that individuals holding public office are expected to maintain restraint in language, dignified conduct, and graceful behavior. Especially when speaking about a departed mass leader who dedicated his entire life to public service, the development of the state, and strengthening democracy, making such disrespectful remarks is extremely unfortunate and condemnable.

Singh stated that Late Bhajan Lal was a strong pillar of Haryana politics. He played a vital role in giving new direction to the state, accelerating development works, and ensuring that the voice of the common people reached those in power. Even today, the people of the state remember his contributions with great respect and honor. Using insulting words against such a great leader amounts to hurting the sentiments of millions of people.

Singh further said that not only Late Chaudhary Bhajan Lal but even the kind of language used against his son, former Deputy Chief Minister, senior Congress leader, and present MLA Chander Mohan, is far removed from democratic values, political culture, and social decency. Political opposition may exist, but personal attacks and indecent language cannot be accepted in any civilized democracy.

Singh said that the growing arrogance of BJP leaders and misuse of power is now clearly visible in their statements and behavior. Arrogance, indecency, and an insulting attitude toward opponents are the first signs of political decline. The people are watching everything and will respond democratically at the right time.

Singh said that the BJP leadership should immediately take cognizance of the matter. Rekha Sharma and the BJP should publicly apologize to the Bhajan Lal family, Chander Mohan, and the people of the state. He also demanded disciplinary action against the concerned MP to send a message that political dignity is respected within the BJP as well.

Singh said that the Congress party has always remained committed to the respect of its senior leaders, public icons, and democratic traditions. If the dignity of any leader is attacked, the Congress party will strongly oppose it and stand as the voice of the people’s sentiments.
