Chandigarh, September 17
The Punjab BJP’s public awareness campaign against drug abuse will begin today with the launch of four ‘Drug-Free Punjab Yatras’. Punjab BJP General Secretary and in-charge of the Drug-Free Punjab Yatra, Rajesh Kumar Bagha, said that all preparations for the yatras being organised under the campaign ‘BJP’s Slogan: Eliminate Drugs Completely’ have been completed. He said BJP National President Nitin Nabin will flag off the first yatra on September 18, while Union Home Minister Amit Shah will reach Jalandhar for the concluding programme of the yatras.
Route of the First Yatra
The first ‘Drug-Free Punjab Yatra’ will begin on September 18 from Ekta Sthal, Madhopur, Pathankot. Before concluding in Jalandhar, the yatra will pass through the assembly constituencies of Sujanpur, Pathankot, Bhoa, Dinanagar, Gurdaspur, Qadian, Sri Hargobindpur, Batala, Fatehgarh Churian, Dera Baba Nanak, Ajnala, Rajasansi, Attari, Amritsar West, Amritsar Central, Amritsar South, Amritsar East, Amritsar North, Majitha, Jandiala, Baba Bakala, Tarn Taran, Khadoor Sahib, Khemkaran, Patti, Ferozepur City, Guru Har Sahai, Ferozepur Rural, Zira, Sultanpur Lodhi, Bholath, Nakodar, Shahkot and Jalandhar Cantt.
Details and Route of the Second Yatra
The second yatra will be flagged off on September 19 by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. Before flagging off the yatra, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will pay obeisance at Gurdwara Sri Jyoti Saroop Sahib in Sri Fatehgarh Sahib.
Before concluding in Jalandhar, the yatra will pass through the assembly constituencies of Samrala, Payal, Khanna, Amloh, Fatehgarh Sahib, Bassi Pathana, Dera Bassi, S.A.S. Nagar, Kharar, Chamkaur Sahib, Ropar, Anandpur Sahib, Garhshankar, Chabbewal, Hoshiarpur, Sham Chaurasi, Dasuya, Mukerian, Urmar, Adampur, Balachaur, Nawanshahr, Banga and Phagwara.
Details and Route of the Third Yatra
The third yatra will begin on September 20 from the Sadiki Border in Fazilka, near the Asafwala 1971 War Memorial. Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal will flag off the yatra.
Before concluding in Jalandhar, the yatra will pass through the assembly constituencies of Fazilka, Balluana, Abohar, Jalalabad, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Malout, Gidderbaha, Jaito, Kotkapura, Faridkot, Bagha Purana, Nihal Singh Wala, Dharamkot, Moga, Jagraon, Raikot, Dakha, Malerkotla, Amargarh, Gill, Sahnewal and Ludhiana Central.
Details and Route of the Fourth Yatra
The fourth yatra will begin on September 21 after paying obeisance at Gurdwara Sri Damdama Sahib in Talwandi Sabo. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will flag off the yatra.
Before concluding in Jalandhar, the yatra will pass through the assembly constituencies of Talwandi Sabo, Maur, Rampura Phul, Bhucho Mandi, Bathinda Rural, Bathinda Urban, Mansa, Sardulgarh, Budhlada, Bhadaur, Barnala, Mehal Kalan, Dhuri, Sangrur, Sunam, Dirba, Lehra, Shutrana, Nabha, Patiala Rural, Patiala Urban, Sanour and Rajpura.
All four yatras will conclude in Jalandhar on September 30. On the occasion of the conclusion, the BJP will organise a public rally in Jalandhar, which will be addressed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
