Chandigarh, June 29
The Health Department, U.T. Chandigarh continued its Pulse Polio Campaign on the second day of the house-to-house activity with the aim of ensuring that every child below five years of age is protected against polio.
Health teams visited 1,35,670 households across the city and administered the Oral Polio Vaccine to 26,150 children (0–5 years). During the visits, parents and caregivers were also informed about the importance of routine immunisation and the need to ensure that no eligible child is missed.
As part of the “Taare Zameen Par” initiative conducted on 28 June 2026, special vaccination activities were organised during the night to reach children who could not be covered during routine hours. A total of 134 children were vaccinated at bus stands, the railway station, traffic lights, construction sites and other locations where migrant and travelling families were present.
The Health Department appealed to all parents and guardians to cooperate with field teams during the Pulse Polio Campaign and ensure that every eligible child receives the life-saving polio vaccine.
